Diversity Matters!

DFW Fiber Fest is a community of diverse individuals who compose our staff, teachers, attendees and vendors.  We are a family.  All of us.  Whether you are grandma who started the family or someone who married in yesterday — you are welcome at our event.

We want there to be no question that every person is welcome through our doors and we do not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender expression, age, height, weight, physical or mental ability, veteran status, military obligations, or marital status.  On the same note, we do not and will not tolerate open discrimination of any kind on our Market floor or in our classrooms.

Any reported incidences of discrimination will be dealt with immediately and fairly.  If the complaint is found to be warranted, penalties will result in immediate removal from the premises and there will be no refund of any fees paid.

History

DFW Fiber Fest, the premier fiber festival in North Texas, was founded in 2005 with the goal to support the knitting, crochet and spinning craft community in the Dallas-Ft.Worth Metroplex.  While other areas of the country had big fiber events, the south central area of the U.S. was mostly under-served, and DFW Fiber Fest was formed to help fill the need for fiber enthusiasts to come together, learn and support the fiber community.  To that end, the first DFW Fiber Fest yearly event was held in the Spring of 2006 in Addison, Texas. DFW Fiber Fest has been built on a dual foundation providing an educational venue and producing a well-curated vendor hall for fiber enthusiasts of all skill levels. Educationally, our goal is to encompass many areas of fiber craft knitting, crochet, spinning and related crafts such as weaving and dyeing.  Each year, we work to bring a slate of nationally and internationally known fiber instructors and speakers, as well as draw from the wealth of knowledge offered by our local and regional teachers in each of our subject areas.

Our Market is a juried show where we do our best to provide a great variety of fiber vendors, providing raw and processed fibers, beautiful yarns, and all kinds of tools and supplies that provide participants and shoppers a single location where they can touch, sample and purchase products that are not always readily available.  The majority of the vendors we bring in for our show are local and regional vendors local yarn shops, farm-based shops and locally-based independent fiber artists but we also are able to present more nationally-known vendors to spice up the mix.

DFW Fiber Fest outgrew the Addison location and moved the festival to the Grapevine Convention Center in 2011 expanding classroom and event space to include the Event Hotel's meeting space.  Our continued growth prompted us to move to the new Irving Convention Center in Las Colinas starting in 2014.

Run by an all-volunteer board, DFW Fiber Fest is a nonprofit corporation and is a labor of love for all those involved.
